* What activities do you choose to focus on, are they productive or time wasting?

* TV is an integral part of life now but which programmes do you choose to watch? Do the TV shows you watch uplift, inspire, educate and entertain you or do they cause you to see the world as harsh and violent, add negativity to your life and drain you of energy?

The thoughts you choose to hold onto have the power to change the direction of your life. For example if you have a stressful thought and you entertain it for a while then mull it over some more you will soon find yourself on the path to worry and anxiety.

The more you do this the quicker it becomes second nature to trot off down the path of negativity again and this will take you further away from your goals.

However if you choose to replace that thought with a better one then you switch directions and head off down the path towards your future vision.

This study was spurred by his enlightening discussions with famous tycoon Andrew Carnegie, which is featured in this video Since it was released more than 60 years ago, more than 15 million copies of Napoleon Hill’s book, Think And Grow Rich, have been sold worldwide. This book has been considered a classic in the field of personal achievement and success. This book came about after Hill’s thorough study of what made various popular personalities rich and succeed in their field of endeavor. This study was spurred by his enlightening discussions with famous tycoon Andrew Carnegie, which is featured in this video:

Hill distillated these secrets to success of hundreds, which he researched and gathered for more than twenty years, of the most successful men in America and presented it as an approach to achieving success. He developed the “laws” of success and the principles for personal achievement and success.

Napoleon Hill rejected the notion that success is up to luck or to one’s fate. He believed that success depends entirely on the individual and had wanted to provide a concrete blueprint for success that depended on this belief. A crucial key for success, according to Hill, is the definiteness of purpose.  If one’s mindset is focused on a certain goal, the likelihood of success is there.

Hill’s iconic statement is “What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

This premium that Hill gave on the power of the mind makes the proper mindset, sense of purpose, and goals as important aspects of success. He believed that wealth and the creation thereof is a product of the combination of reasoning, imagination, and tenacity; therefore, a product of the mind.

The proper mindset and the belief that you can be the master of your own fate is the way to start embarking on the road to success. Look at at the image below. You can clearly see both Houdini and the elephant are in full view.

Just try this…… Close your left eye, be at least an arms width from the computer screen and look at Houdini with your right eye. Now slowly move your face closer to the screen, but make sure that you keep focused on Houdini's head with your right eye. At some point, usually when the screen is about 30cm from your face, the elephant will suddenly vanish.

You have NOW just made an elephant disappear into thin air!

This simple illusion works because each of our eyes has a 'blind spot' – a small area inside each eyeball that literally cannot see the world. Rather than tell you that there is something missing, your brain automatically fills in the gaps from the surrounding area, and wipes out whatever is in font of your eyes.

Exactly the same phenomenon applies to the way in which we see the world. Each and every one of us has psychological 'blind spots' that can cause us to miss obvious openings to solutions to complex problems and opportunities that could change our lives.

The following experiment by Daniel Simons and his colleagues reveals two things: that we are missing a lot of what goes on around us, and that we have no idea that we are missing so much.

Did you see everything in the video? This is a perfect demonstration of an unbelievable psychological blind spot. With todays huge rate of change, we now live in an environment which is far more fluid, unpredictable and challenging. Opportunities come and go on a daily basis. Just like Houdini's elephant, they will be there one moment and gone the next.
